Fundraising at Fremont

The combined annual budget for Fremont PTA and PAC for Fremont is a little over $100,000. This amount allows both groups to provide additional services and resources for our children. The $100,000 breaks down to a cost of $150 per student per year.

For those families who generously reach or exceed this amount annually, Fremont graciously thanks you and says: Don’t stop!

For the rest of us, $150 (per student) may seem like a lot of money initially, but it breaks down to only $15 each month throughout the school year, which is much less than the thousands of dollars some of our neighbors spend on private school for a comparable education.

The PTA and PAC simply request that we keep the needs of our children in mind throughout the school year and try to give a few dollars more whenever possible, through participation in fundraisers. Every little bit counts. Our goal is 100% financial participation from families. So, whether you can give $5 or $5,000, your contribution makes a difference.

Where Does the Money Go?

State and District money only goes so far. In order to have the exceptional school that we do, we MUST raise money through our parent organizations. Below is a small sampling of programs and benefits made possible by funds raised in the past by PAC and Fremont PTA.

Fundraising Opportunities

  • Throughout the school year, PAC partners with local restaurateurs to raise money for Fremont. PAC coordinates an event date and agrees to market the event through various means. In turn, the restaurant agrees to donate a certain percentage (usually 15% or more) of the receipts received from Fremont on that date.

  • Code for JOHN C. FREMONT (not just "Fremont") in GLENDALE, CA 91208: 70008469

Help Fremont earn free supplies by shopping at Office Depot for your school and office supplies. When you check out in stores, tell the cashier that John C. Fremont has a 5% Back to Schools Program ID. You also can use the ID when shopping online or over the phone.

When you submit Fremont's ID, Office Depot will offer Fremont credits equal to 5% of qualifying purchases in the form of an Office Depot Merchandise Card that can be used toward free supplies.

  • Scrip is a fundraising program that works while you shop for the holidays. Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, gift certificates from national and local retailers. They’re the same gift cards and certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our Scrip program including JCPenney, Macy's, Gap, Shell, Pizza Hut, Coffee Bean, Starbucks, Home Depot and many others.

Scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to PAC at a discount. Families buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our school keeps the difference.

Here is an example: Purchase a $100 gift card to Macy’s. Macy’s gives Fremont 10% of the $100. Fremont gets $10 for that purchase.

  • FREMONT PTA is excited to offer See’s candies just in time for the Holidays! Treat your loved ones, friends, teachers (and don’t forget yourself!), to some of the world’s finest chocolate while benefiting our FABULOUS SCHOOL.

All proceeds support PTA programs that help make FREMONT the excellent learning environment we are all so proud of.

  • All students visit the library once a week, participate in grade-appropriate activities with the librarian, check out books and conduct research. Our goal is to grow our little school library with new, exciting titles as well as classics for all grades.

PTA has a budget line of $1250 per year for buying new books; however, that still isn't enough money to keep the library current. Our Sponsor-A-Book Program gives parents, relatives and caregivers the chance to help grow the school library. Our school’s librarian chooses library-bound books and adds them to the online list. Fremont families are then given the opportunity to sponsor library books by choosing a book to sponsor and paying for its cost through the BTSB (Bound to Stay Bound) website.

The sponsored book remains the property of Fremont but each sponsor receives a commemorative nameplate affixed to the inside front cover of the selected book. Nameplates thank the sponsor by name and can display a short dedication or phrase, such as “Happy 10th Birthday, Jane,” “Welcome to first grade, Joe,” “To my avid reader, John. Keep it up!” or “In memory of Grandma Smith, who loved reading with me.”

Sponsorship of a single book costs between $8 to $25 per selected book. Click here to donate a book.

  • Yogurt Tuesday is one of Fremont PTA’s more popular fundraisers. The PTA (in conjunction with Yum Yum Yogurt) sells yogurt cups to the students every Tuesday after school during the fall and spring seasons.

  • The annual Walk-a-Thon is one of Fremont’s biggest fundraisers, while promoting health and exercise at the same time. Students are asked to get sponsors for the event, which requires students to walk around the upper field of Fremont for 30 minutes. Students and parents walk to upbeat music and are treated to popsicles at the end.
